The Unify Pro line of video transmitters does not need any additional thermal protection. Even running at full power without an antenna connected, it can withstand the heat generated by itself, without overheating or breaking down. For more information on this, please check our KB article

The Unify Pro HV and Race additionally have a DCDC power supply for external cameras, and internal step-down to power the VTX off up to 6S batteries. The DCDC cicuit can get very hot and overheat, therefore it has a thermal protection that will shut down the video transmitter until the temperature drops down. It is not a problem in mini racer quads as the VTx will always be exposed to sufficient airflow. But if you are a wing pilot, please make sure that there is a steady stream of fresh air going over the video transmitter to ensure that it can run even on hot days at maximum power.
